Malcolm in the Middle is the saga of boy-genius Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) and his wacky dysfunctional family. Malcolm's trials and tribulations to avoid being embarrassed to death by his family provide for gobs of laughs.
His mom (Jane Kaczmarek) is a creative punisher who is outspoken in every situation and has no qualms about shaving her husband's back in the kitchen over breakfast. His dad (Bryan Cranston) happily hands all power over to his wife giving him time to pursue his "Top Skate Dog" status, teach the boys to eat gutbusters, and make killer robots. Malcolm suffers the embarrassments along side his brothers, Francis (Christopher Kennedy Masterson), Reese (Justin Berfield), and Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan).
Francis, Malcolm's oldest, and favorite brother, has been sent away to military school in Alabama as a disciplinary measure. Although Francis is the troublemaker away from home he has been known to help his younger brothers navigate around their tough-as-nails mother. In the thrid season, Francis leaves the academy, but he's not heading home. Next oldest brother is Reese -- a tough and often violent pre-adolescent who has about one-third of the intelligence Malcolm has.
Malcolm finds his place in his weird family who are less-than-impressed with his extreme genius. Adding to his angst, he attends the gifted class at Krelboyne where his nerdy status makes him a target from the likes of Reese.

Company Picnic

After Superbowl XXXVI Fox aired a special hour-long episode of Malcolm in the Middle, featuring guest stars Susan Sarandon, Bradley Whitford (leading lady Jane Kaczmarek's husband), Tom Green, Christina Ricci and Heidi Klum. The episode centered around Hal's company picnic, but another plotline involved a game of hockey.

The scoop: Hal is worried about his upcoming company picnic because he'll meet his new boss for the first time. It seems that he's notorious for making the wrong first impression at work. One boss caught him Xeroxing his butt and one appeared pregnant but when Hal asked about the little one, declared that she just had a big stomach. The worst instance involved meeting the new boss' daughter and son-in-law (guest stars Christina Ricci and Tom Green). He tripped over holiday party food table, grabbed on to her necklace, they toppled over and she ended up with a toothpick in her eye.
