Anjelica
Huston has signed on to direct "The White Rose," a World War
II drama to star Christina Ricci.
Pic is
an English/German/Italian co-prod that starts shooting in November in
Germany.
Based on
Allegra Huston's screenplay, pic tells the story of a group of dissident
German college students known as the White Rose. Headed by siblings
Hans and Sophie Scholl, the group distributed leaflets that challenged
the government's war claims and attempted to awaken their fellow Germans
to the atrocious realities of what Nazism meant. Ricci will play Sophie
Scholl.
Barry Navidi,
who recently produced Michael Radford's "The Merchant of Venice,"
will produce the $23 million pic via his U.K.-based Navidi Wilde Prods.

is in place.
Navidi
and Huston are in talks with Albert Finney, Liam Neeson and Tim Robbins
for additional roles.
Navidi
also produced John Huston's last pic, "Mr. Cobett's Ghost,"
directed by Danny Huston.
Huston
